I have not had a chance to shoot an AR pistol. I am curious to know if the pistol version is just a fun range toy or is there any real world use without a stock? Can the pistol be accurate and how manageable is it?

Can the pistol be accurate and how manageable is it? Not at all. I compare it a rifle in a shorter package. As accurate as a rifle, groups like a rifle, not much more arching in the bullet trajectory than a 14.5" barrel (M4 Carbine). As much energy at 300yd as a 44mag at the muzzle. Figure a way to shoulder it well, and it's an SBR in a legal, workable package. Not sure I'm supposed to say these things out loud. EDIT: For your exact questions... it's very fun at the range or where ever. I don't notice any real difference between it and a rifle, when used outside. Very manageable. One thing, be really careful about flagging yourself. Really easy to put parts of you in front of that shorter barrel. |

Honestly, I don't recommend the extra expense of the SB15 brace or anything fancy. A crutch tip is what I've settled on, on a standard carbine buffer tube.
The reason, the SB15 is far from perfect, and about as ergonomic for the shoulder, or less, than the crutch/cane tip. It's just the standard on Arfcom (at the moment) to need the brace. Either way, if you're worried about vehicle use, or 'CQB'; learn to shoot with the stock fully collapsed. Guys don't hop out of the truck and extend their stocks... except maybe 249 guys with one version of the stock we had. That suggestion is for rifles. WIth the pistol, don't put the stock on unless it doesn't matter any more. |

If I had the choice between 30 rds of .223 vs 18 rds of 9mm in a package I can carry in my car for SD, the choice is pretty clear. I use the sig brace, it allows me to manipulate the pistol the same as a rifle, but I cannot do the same with just a cane tip. I have tried both, and the sig brace is 1000x better for me. Keeping the length down by using a standard pistol tube instead of the KAK tube is an option depending on what the laws are in your state. |

Can the pistol be accurate and how manageable is it? i have heard so many guys at ranges and shops say this exact same thing, and this is my anwser. it is as accurate and manageable as an sbr, i do not have to fill out paper work to leave my state with it. anyone can borrow it, anyone can posses it without paper work or me being there. sbr's and ar pistols are not fun to me to shoot, but i feel a need for a short barreled ar for home defense as my home has alot of hallways and archways. i enjoy being able to keep it at the ready in my vehicle when traveling in and out of my state. when entering a hotel it carries in luggage so no one knows it is a gun. in fact most of the time the bell hop will carry my "luggage" for me. it is not a loop hole or a way around it is a legitimate firearm with a legitimate use. btw i am considering trying out a sig brace to make it a bit more comfortable. my pistol is an A1 upper, i am 6'5" tall and have no issue burying the "buffer tube" in my shoulder and using the iron sights. if i were to run a sig brace it may be a little nore comfortable to use at the range. |
