I have someone who want to sell me an upper off of an old colt pre ban AR known as a Colt Target Match Competition. The lower to this rifle they no longer or never owned. I was told it was destroyed and no longer exist. All they have is an upper for sale with no flash suppressor or threaded bbl.

A local gun store has some striped lowers for sale for about $90.00 of which I hear have to be registered as if they were the entire gun even though there are no parts in it. I was also told if I build an AR on a new lower using an old upper I have have to build the lower to Ca compliant standards which means a bullet release button not a normal mag release button like normal people have.

My major concern is will the old colt upper fit onto this new lower without a problem. I was told some Colts used large pins but have no clue if this upper has large pins or small pins.

1. You are in Cali, better make sure your within the rules there. 2. You can get better lower prices going with advertisers here. $90 isn't bad for local shop pricing, if you don't have to ship it or wait for one. You can find a blem or an Anderson for around $50.00 plus shipping and background check. Usually $20.00 for background check/FFL fee.

Read the tacked newbie threads here first! Then start to build.

Never mind guys, I'm to late. the AR upper got sold before I could get an answer from anyone. Maybe next time. I had heard the old Colt upper weren't as good as the new uppers anyway so maybe this is a God send.  Thanks
