9mm is a blowback action. Of course there’s no gas tube. Bitch to the ee mod if you feel like you were cheated. Those are STEN mags too. Oly did that cause they were cheap mags. They are also a royal bitch to load. Hope you got that all cheap. |

Blowback operation so no gas tube needed. Delta assembly (ring / weld spring / retaining clip ) does not need to be removed to attach the barrel. You'll need a barrel nut wrench, a way to secure the upper and a torque wrench to do things correctly. Edit: Your port door rod will need the C clip to retain the rod. The delta assembly will limit forward movement / removal of the pin. Another edit: Hard to clearly see but possibly there is a C clip on the rod currently If so, you are good to go there. |

I've built AK47's Ak74's, 1919, and PSL but never an AR15 so kind of clueless here to what I need to get barrel attached and what is missing for a 9mm olympic upper. 1rst is there a gas tube missing here on the upper or is the hole supposed to be open? 2nd What do I need to attach the barrel, I have an AR15 wrench but do I need to remove the Snap ring and torque the handguard/barrel to a certain setting, Do I need a special block for the upper in a vice? 4th Does everything look right here in the pics??? 5th the pin holding the dust cover looks kind of funky, is the pin supposed to be further to the rear to fit in that slot? To hopefully answer your questions: Everything looks to be there from what I can see in the pics. 1. The 9mm pistol caliber uppers don't use a gas tube, as they are a blow back system. 2. You will need to hold the upper receiver in some type of vise block. This could be some type of a clam shell or upper receiver block that locks onto the pivot pin/rear takedown pin holes, purchase one that is made for this use IMHO. Either of these vise fixtures will work. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1028305054?pid=980886 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/102135462?pid=329874 3. The Milspec is to put some molybdendum disulfide paste where the steel barrel and barrel nut make contact with the aluminum receiver. I would put some where it goes into the upper receiver, and I would also suggest adding some to the threads where the steel barrel nut threads onto the upper receiver which is aluminum. 4. Torque the barrel nut to 30-Ft Lbs. Since there is no gas tube, there is no need to super finicky about the index the barrel nut except for hand guard alignment. 5. The ejection port cover has a long rod (pin) that it pivots (rotates) on. The front of this rod there is a C-clip snap ring that keeps it from going rearward, form what I can see on the upper receiver pic it appears to be there. The C-clip locks into a groove on the long rod, which is about 3.8" back, so it will keep the front of this long rod sticking forward of which you can see in your pic. I would suggest putting it together and give it a range session. CY6 Greg Sullivan "Sully" WeaponsArmorer SLR15 Rifles Defensive Edge Training (763) 712-0123 |

Thank you all. I'm calmed down from my hissy fit. I didn't want another project but put a couple pins in and go to town. But now I have to buy a vise block. Okay. Now that it's over I have one more question. With the grinding on the barrel near the front pin slot for the FSB, is this going to be a problem?, The FSB is pretty loose on the barrel, When I pound the pins in will this tighten it up and stay centered? I don't understand why the grinding is there, shouldn't it be a bit of interference fit to start with? I already had a bunch of Sten mags that came with an Israeli 1919 kit I built way back when, is why I decided on the Oly upper with the mag block to use them. Appreciate the help, I have a bunch of AR's but never did so much as change stocks, handgrips, muzzle devices ect ect. Sully, I got the more expensive vise block and some paste on amazon. Thanks much! |

Okay the seller is SSTPAC, he seems to have a good rep on here, I was just a little ticked he didn't tell me the barrel wasn't installed and the grinding on the barrel was not disclosed. Assuming the grinding on the barrel isn't going to cause me problems with securing the FSB, I think $425 for the upper, two different sten mag blocks, and 6 Sten mags was an okay deal looking that I wanted one for the other 10 mags I already have. Again, I appreciate all the help from the responses. Kinda made a mountain out of a mole hill it looks like. I'm gonna have to spend a little more for a vise block than I envisoned in the buy. |

| In all honestly, seller should have disclosed it was in pieces at the time of the posting and any damage if not shown in any pictures. |
