| I have a few 300BO platforms and have noticed the JAKL is the loudest of them all while running subs suppressed. Is this Port pop? I feel it’s twice as loud as my 7.5” AR15. Anyone else notice this? |

That is one of the unfortunate problems with this type of piston design and a short barrel. You can tune it a bit more, pushing the ragged edge of reliability and it will get quieter, but you will lose last round bolt hold open, and it may not cycle with temperature changes. If you are a reloader, you could try different powders. AA1680 is very popular, but not ideal for a gun with an easily adjustable gas system like the JAKL, and you can likely get away with a faster burning, less gassy powder. A 220gr sub loaded with AA1680 is louder to my ear in all 3 of my suppressed 300BLK rifles than the same bullet at the same velocity loaded with a slightly smaller charge of MP-325, and it will run my 8.5" JAKL. |
| Yep it is port pop. Depending on the gun they an sometimes be quieter to the shooter because of the right ear noise from the action. But the short bbls are usually louder. The nice thing with the piston guns is less fowling in the action due to increased back pressure as compared to DI guns. So there is always a trade off. |
