My desire for piston guns was because of the ease of interchangeability with suppressors, quick adjust gas settings, reliability and less carbon. Now that these flow-thru style cans are here....it might lighten up the necessity. Of course im in too deep but I did pick up a B&T Titanium SRBS which is 3d printed titanium with flow through technology measuring less than 1% change in backpressure in a DI rifle. LWRCi night shoot setup with the Fat Cat, USNR IR and Surefire IR

A litttle journey... When I first decided to get into .300BLK, I bought a completed 16" upper with a cheap read dot from a friend. I actually never shot it in this config, but pretty much immediately bought the parts to convert it to piston. I do like my pistons. So anyway, first picture is when I got it. Second picture is after I converted to piston. For the record, I built the lower to be a pistol, but made it into a rifle for this upper. That matters, because I always wanted to turn it into a 10.5" pistol. So, I finally did that, but AA went belly up (for now). So I thought I'd never be able to get a 10" AARS forend I wanted. But the foreend I bought didn't fit my AA piston kit. SO, it got converted back to DI. Third picture. Turns out, Alexandria Pro-Fab bought AA and all their remaining parts. They have the 10" AARS forend. So I bought it and converted it back to a piston. Final picture. I miss the carbon fiber forend, that thing as SO light. But going back to piston only added 8 oz and most of that was in the new barrel nut. Side note in the 3rd pic the optic is a Swampfox Blade which will probably come back when I get it back from an RMA issue. Anyway, it's been a journey and I'm not even sure I'm done... LOL. BTW, the red accents are intentional to set it apart from my other rifles. Anything red is .300BLK in my safe/ammo.    |
