After selling my Block 2 with a Colt SOCOM barrel, I’m looking to do another 14.5”, just not as heavy as the Block 2. Geissele, Criterion, Centurion, and Noveske’s Afghan we’re the short list, now I can safely remove Geissele from the short list. I think between the three left it’s put the name on a dart board and throw. |

Yes, and it was bought almost a year ago. It's already on its way back to Geissele to fix and they no doubt will make sure it is functioning for him. I know you want to see some sort of statement from them, but I'm not really sure what that does as long as they acknowledge and fix issues when people contact them. |

Quoted: . . . they no doubt will make sure it is functioning for him. Quoted: . . . they no doubt will make sure it is functioning for him. Will that be with a second barrel or a third barrel? Quoted: Just got my barrel back from Geissele RMA. Had no paperwork or anything letting me know what the issue was or what was done to the barrel for testing. Emailed them asking asking what the issue was when I got shipping notification and no answer back. Bore looked like no rounds had been test fired through it. Took it out the range for a test.... And exactly the same issues as before. No bolt lockback on empty mag w/ M193 or M855 and basically any non-match, medium powered 223 either wouldn't eject at all or completely locked up the action. DID NOT USE ANY STEEL. Also used carbine buffer and regular mil spec buffer spring to be as light as possible on the action. The gas block was properly aligned and these are the components used in the upper: - Crane Spec Mk12 (Badger Ordinace) gas block. - Dogbone M4 USGI contract upper receiver - Variety or BCGs, including microbest w/SRC bolt (which functions like butter in other rifles) - Mil spec carbine buffer system -Buffer tube is mil contract 7075 w/dry film lube Lower is a Geissele w/G LPK |

@S-1 let's make sure there arnt personal attacks in the tech area. ~d16man Since you're "arfcom famous", you should know that every company has QC issues slip out. It doesn't matter if it is KAC, HK, LMT etc. They have all had some issues at times. What does matter is if they correct the problems and take care of their customers. From what I have seen, G has done that. |

There’s a bunch of people who have had this issue, myself included. When they sent back my “repaired” upper, it was having short stroking issues. Turns out the barrel nut wasn’t even hand tightened." ... |

Quoted: A lot of "normal" AR15s are garbage. My LMT 10.5" wouldn't cycle PMC bronze without the can. No way would it cycle shitty steel cased. It was gassed perfectly. I know this is an older comment but the fact that a 10.5" barrel isn't cycling basically anything is a giant red flag. That short of a barrel has much higher pressure than a longer barrel. Your lmt is broken if it can't cycle every kind of 556 ammo out of it. |
| All this gas port size discussion, and everybody missing that Molon can’t even single shoot rounds out of the barrel because the chamber is dangerously undersized. That barrel is scrap metal without cutting the chrome out of the chamber to make it safe and opening up the gas port, which is obviously unacceptable from a new premium priced barrel. And yes 0.062” is way undersized for 556 16” mid gas unless it is sold as suppressor only. G screwed up and refused to own it and now appears to have overcompensated making them 0.078” as published on their site. 0.072-0.076” is the right size for commercial mixed use 556 16” Mid gas barrels. You can get away with 0.070” using tightly sealed gas system/ BCG components and lighter buffers/ spring rates shooting lower pressure ammo but it is on the edge of reliability for cold and dirty function. 0.078” isn’t terrible but is getting too big if shooting suppressed higher pressure rounds. Stiff springs and extra heavy buffers to compensate are not ideal. |

Just thought I’d share this info from a thread I started awhile back regarding GP sizes. Unfortunately, it’s archived, as I must have accidentally hit the “unsubscribe” button. Here is the link to the original post: GP THREAD @Molon: I’ll delete it this post if you feel this is just adding clutter to the thread. *********************************************************** “I’m trying to get a handle on what the appropriate GP size should be for a given barrel length in order to compare it to what manufacturers are currently putting out. I chose Colt's GP diameters as the base line. Just trying to determine how over-gassed, or not, a barrel is by having something to compare it to. Big thanks to @Molon, as I am able to obtain GP size information from his posts. Colt's gas port sizes are: 10.3" - .070" (The NSW Crane spec for the 10.3" Mk18 barrels is 0.070") 11.5" - .070" FBI/HRT SOCOM 11.5" - .074" Colt 6933/Commando 14.5" - .062" (carbine gas) 16" - .062" (carbine gas) 16" - 0.071 (6960 mid-length) DD GP sizes: 10.3” - .070" 11.5” - .069" 14.5 - .076" 16” - .073 (mid-length) (Big thanks to everyone helping me with the above info!) Criterion Core 16" barrel: mid-length, GP 0.078". Geissele 16" CHF barrel: mid-length, GP 0.062”. Hodge Defense 14.5" barrel: mid-length, GP 0.075”. Quoted: it and now appears to have overcompensated making them 0.078” as published on their site. Yup. I was going to purchase one of the new versions of the barrel for testing when they came out, but the last thing I needed was another over-gassed barrel that I'd have to correct the large gas port with an EZtune gas tube. ... |

I bought one of their trigger pin tools when they had the Memorial Day sale. I go to use it for the first time the other day. Once I stripped the protective coating off the end I see they forgot to chamfer the end so it would not work. It is not a major thing. When I go over to my friends I will hit on his bench grinder but it is very disappointing to see Geissele's QC has gone to shit. |
| I just got one of these (as a blem) barrels for their 4th of July sale. I do not have an upper or bolt carrier for it yet so I can't really check the chamber but the gas port seems to be just slightly smaller than 0.078. I have a 0.062" bit that will fit but is loose enough to have some wobble. I have a 0.0778" bit that barely fits but is slightly too big. Not sure if this provides any super meaningful data or not but those are the bits I have access to right now. The barrel is stamped 280323 so I am thinking it might be a late March manufactured barrel? |

Quoted: 7/25/2023 Recently bought a complete Geissele 16" Super Duty . . . Day 2. Brought 3 different ammo, all 55 grain to test out. Rifle chambered, fired, but failure to feed. Short cycling . . . Tested with one round firing at a time and the bolt would fail to lock back. Changed out for the third set of ammo and a different mag, same issue. Tested with one round firing at a time and the bolt would fail to lock back Day 3. Swapped to a Aero Precision spring and Carbine buffer. No dice. Failure to feed, and late ejection. No lock back of the BCG on single round firing. Day 4. Changed out the Lantac E-BCG to a KAC Buffer running perfect on my KAC 16". Same deal, failure to feed, late ejection on single rounds, and no lock back of BCG. |
