Just wanted to see what you're trying to post here. Mmmm, that's a lot of scope for a 16"...

When you go back, can you try to get a pic from the side with the stock closed to show the detail of the gap? And maybe from a rearward angle with the stock open to show the flats and bottom of the buffer tube? It looks like the flange on the buffer tube would have to be clearanced for the locking tube flange.
