Quoted: For the bullets you shoot, sure. For the 24" varmint shooters throwing 35 grainers @ 3500 fps, they wouldn't be able to hit anything. For my boy shooting .22 LR, his targets would go to crap. |

Quoted: 1) Marking targets for your gun teams.
2) M856 is the only round heavier than 55 grain in your inventory? Really?? You don't need 1:7" twist to shoot heavies out of a 20". 1:8" is common now, some folks have good luck w/ certain 1:9" bbls. |

Quoted: I think the brownells guy on tfb (I know I know) said March. However he also mentioned that if they changed the fsb then the early rifles wouldn’t ship with the corrected fsb Of course if someone from @Brownell's would care to disavow that report, I'd reconsider. |

@Brownells Please clarify this for us. I'd imagine there are several waiting to find out if there will be another version with a different front sight base before we order. Some will buy now, use it for a while, and sell it when the more correct model becomes available. These are "normal people." Of those who buy immediately, a certain percentage will ball up their little fists, throw a tantrum, and badmouth Brownell's when the more correct model becomes available. These are "adult children." If you happen to be blessed with both patience and maturity, I would suggest you wait. |

Pretty much this I would expect that the people that do this will have to have some barrel work done but that is just sending business JT’s way and I’m sure most of us are happy with that. I’ll try and find the vid at some point and post it. Quoted:

The pins will obviously be much closer together, so the extra drilling will need to be covered by a barrel shroud or the beehive device. Start the timer folks, in a few short months the "ya follow" crowd will be crying big fat tears onto their neon lime furniture and AR-15 FSBs and cursing Brownell's name. I 100% guarantee you that all the major failures with these products will be fixed in time. |

You guys are slipping. Standard ARFCOM answer: GET BOTH ! Then take the early rendition and have John Thomas make a carbine out of it later. |

When you ordered it, were you led to believe in any way that they were not going to fix the FSB? Buy the things that you want. Skip the things that you don't want. Super simple stuff. Quoted:

Well that does it. I'm cancelling my B-model order... I'd reconsider. Buy the things that you want. Skip the things that you don't want. Super simple stuff. I do not want to buy now something I'd want to fix to look more correct, at added expense to me, if Brownell's is going to do that correctly later, for the same price as the incorrect one. As you said, "super simple stuff". |

Quoted: Different guns like different loads, but 1:10 is exactly the right twist for a 7.62 NATO rifle. If all the 5.56 guns changed spec to 1:7, we'd be golden. |
I must be the only person who likes the new AR-10 from Brownells just as is.
Upper charging handle, got the rear sight right, furniture is nice, and uses SR-25 magazines, and most important a lot less expensive than an original AR-10. If I want a perfect copy I will just buy the real thing, but this gets most of it and the "impression" right for a good price. And definitely a step forward from the Armalite AR-10B. The FSB is what has prevented me from ordering one already. The guys on here proved that a limited production FSB can be pulled together by a bunch of dedicated firearms aficionados at a relatively reasonable price. Brownells has beaucoup resources compared to the guys that pulled that limited casting. I am NOT a big AR-10 fan, but even me, with my limited exposure to the AR-10, saw the FSB sticking out like a sore thumb! I mean I would LOVE to have another caliber to feed ( ) but I would rather have a M1A in .308/7.62x51 before I'd pick one of these up.A nice older M1A would be about the same coin as these so for me I'll have to pass. These just aren't "M14 Cool". (Blasphemy I know!)

Brownells has beaucoup resources compared to the guys that pulled that limited casting. Here's the timeline: 1) First units come out with the wrong FSB, no dimpled pins, etc. 2) Second run uses the cash generated to correct the failures. 3) Early adopter normal people sell their Gen 1's to finance Gen 2's. 4) Early adopter man children ball up tiny fists and say, "I BOUGHT THE WRONG THING! I WANT EVERYONE ELSE TO HAVE THE WRONG THING!" 5) Patient folks and Early adopter normal people buy Gen 2's. Man children wring oily palms while staring at their Gen 1's and hateposting on Brownell's for the next 10 years or so. Same thing with people who bought Gen 1 Scorpions before the thread pitch got corrected, same thing with people who bought ATI-MKI MP5s before Zenith got the front pin approved, etc... |

Quoted: It was an amazing thing to see unfold! It's amazing that Brownells has offered this much to the retro community, and done so while keeping the previous torch bearers, Nodak Spud, speaking well of them in the process. But saying the last little details are simple to fix - they ain't, or Brownells would've solved those issues in the beginning. When it's a part they will sell handfuls of, and they have to invest thousands to have the correct part made, they have a well worn formula for that, and the answer is almost always no. That they're jumping into complete rifle production is amazing - but I'm certain they've done the math, and they expect a profit from this endeavor. Fixing every last detail won't pay, and if it won't pay, they won't do it. |

I find it odd that Brownells tried to keep the original 1-12 twist rate in all of it's M16 retro line when a more modern twist would be better for more shooters, and then puts a more modern twist in their AR10 line instead when the original twist would be better for most shooters.
Do you think that brownells will boost the price on these after they spend the coin to come out with the "corrected" FSB? |

As this thread has already shown, retro heads get really nuts about details, even ones like barrel twist. Quoted:

Quoted: Then why didn't they keep the original barrel twist of the AR10 for the retro heads??? The 1:12 twist barrels are already stocking items at Brownell's and didn't need new supply chains. But I'd also bet that there's going to be barrels with the older twist before too long. |

My plan is to buy (2) AR10A's and (2) AR10B's. I will find a great deal on one each that is being sold by someone to buy the new updated model with the updated FSB. I will start watching now for them to be for sale in the EE. Then later buy one of each of the update versions. Hey! It is just a plan............It has worked for me in the past........ Ron |

I got an e-mail from Brownells today saying that my order had shipped, and I got REAL EXCITED for a moment thinking it was my AR10. Then I realized that the order was for a small part that had been back ordered so long that I had forgotten about it. ![]() |

That would be HUGE/FANTASTIC if they were to do that. Just think about it. Brownells hooking up with a manufacturer to cast those. Everything being set up, it might just be a couple more steps to make a cast FSB for their 601 and/or their retro barrels. Quoted:
