Hey, everyone! This would have been my 556th post if I hadn't been distracted by some BOTD in Team. Instead it's 556*, with my very first personally owned as opposed to Uncle Sam-provided Black Rifle. It's four years of collected parts, like the pistol grip that went to Iraq twice on two different issue M4s. The finished product is sort of between a hot-rod M4gery and a Recce, or what I would have carried in Iraq if my unit had the funding and let me do my own thing.  The specs, from top to bottom: -TA31F-RCOM4 in a Larue mount, tied down in accordance with 2nd BCT SOP. -KAC 300M flip-up rear BUIS -Troy flip-up front BUIS - Adco upper, specifically Steve's "Mini Mark 12" package. Rock River upper with 16" White Oak SPR barrel in a 9" Daniel Defense FF rail. Someday I'll swap the A2 FH for a Vortex. -Badger Ordnance GenII TacLatch -Rock River lower with RRA NM trigger. -RRA winter triggerguard -Small parts from a DPMS kit -TangoDown BattleGrip -Stock from Doublestar. The receiver extension measures out as a milspec. -DD Rail-mount QD front sling swivel -DD offset flashlight mount with a SureFire Nitrolon in it. -KAC rail panels -KAC vertical grip -Sling and stock pouch from Specter back when it was still CQB Solutions. -Engraving of the classic 502nd Parachute Infantry "Widowmaker" patch was done at the local trophy shop, and it looks pretty damn good in person. Edited to add: And a big thanks to my wife for not killing me when she came back from California and I showed it to her. She even took the picture since I can't figure her super digital camera out. |

Greetings Paratrooper, Nice of you to "drop in" and show us your personal weapon. I like to see a set-up put together by an experienced pro. Normally don't like engravings but the one you have of the 502nd Parachute Infantry is excellent. A very nice build. Thank you for posting the pic & description. |

Thanks, guys. I'm really proud of it. As for the engraving, I've had two tours with 3/502 so I had to commemorate it somehow. Plus it kept a 30-round rapid fire mag dump from the prone unsupported in a group you could cover with the palm of your hand at 100 yards (furthest range I've had available), so she's not just a pretty face. |
| Well, it's an SPR-weight, which is a thinner contour than an HBAR, plus Adco just offered that one package upper that just screamed "BUY ME, ASSHOLE!" when I saw it. It's got enough weight up front it's highly controllable in rapid fire, yet nowhere near as clumsy as a 20" HBAR is. My buddy has one, it's name is The Beast, not just because it has three consecutive 666's in the Bushy S/N. |
