| I got a fixed stock parts set from centerfire today and the lower handguard has CTPNKA APARAH on the right side and on the underside it has IVANA. My wife who spent some time in europe said that the cyrillic on the side is STREKA ARAGAN what dose this mean ? and any guess as to why the womans name on the underside is written in the english? thanks. |

sorry, cant figure out how to get them to show to everyone else, they show for me. But it has what appears to be backwards E, upsidedown L U then a D or O. or if you turn it upside down it could read as DULE. Any ideas? |

very interesting: BPC is VRS and I think it means VOJSKA REPUBLIKE SRPSKE or in english Army of Republic of Srpska (http://www.vojska.net/eng/armed-forces/bosnia-and-herzegovina/vrs/) the other one is DUSHKO also short version of comon first name DUSHAN :) both on bottom picture than you have NENAD (with date) it is also first name - top picture and BOG CHUVA SRBE - it means GOD IS PROTECTING SERBS - top picture dunno what are those marks on middle picture hope it helps :) |

Wow, just got a M48 stock last weekend at a gun show with alot of character. I love the stock carvings! So I see this one that has just been worked over like crazy, it was soo bad it looked like a new york city public school desk. Carvings almost everywhere one could be put. Carvings on top of carvings. Apparently some very bored soldiers had a grand ole time with the stock. Best part is I ask casually how much we wants for it, a quick $5 bill later and its on its way home with me! We have (in no particular order) I am assuming these are names? * Ared * Hue * Jamel * Hasan * Enes * CHS * Ahmir * Esmir *Zeril * Loniea * Sudo * Agan *Ari *Dinue *(theta symbol)(backwards K)-SY In addition has * At least 4 others that are unreadable * A Swastica * 2 geometric patterns * And probably in the order of 200 or so small holes. LITERALLY 200 or more. The entore right side is peppered with these holes. | In my last shipment of M70s I received some very interesting carvings, but one in particular was especially interesting. It has 2 Runes carved in the side of the butt. Much like Nazi SS symbols. Does this have any meaning? I also have one kit that had Red,White and Blue wire wrapped in bands around the up handguard. Looks pretty neat. Jim |

Of three kits from FTF, two were carved and one wasn't. Centerfire I think has some that they say are carved. |

After about half an hour of trying very hard to figure out what it says, the best candidate is: TELEBA*S TRIO * - I just can't make out that letter, and since this word doesn't mean anything to me I can't even guess it. Looks like a K, maybe letter Dj in Cyrillic but I just can't be certain. Sorry. Trio is ... well trio in just about any language :) I would dare to guess that first word is name of a local village in Bosnia or maybe an area. Definitely Serbian since Cyrillic's been used. Sorry I couldn't figure it out completely, but at least you have a rough idea what it says ;) |

Actually, if the unknown letter is an R and last letter that looks like a C is in fact an E, that would make it: Telebare That sound like a place. Again could be a village, a hamlet, an area... who knows, but it sounds like a word that would be used around in those parts of the world. Cheers |

All Serbian symbols, or shall I say majority, comes with the crown. Until WW2, Serbia was Kingdom and you'll be hard pressed to find any non-communist (1945-1990) symbols that don't have royal markings. Significance; well, lot of Serbs (contrary to popular views in the West) were not happy with Yugoslavia. Especially communist Yugoslavia. To publicly talk about your Christian heritage and go to Church was in some cases dangerous. Once Yugoslavia died, old traditional Serbian symbols came back to life. Some with more success than others ;) All the best mate |
