The AKM folders go straight to put the recoil in a straight line with the shoulder. They are the latter models. The earlier AK-47 models had the drop.

Basically HeavyMetal is referring to the AKMS and the AKS-47, just to be clear.

agreed.
the early aks-47 (ak-47s) had a modicum of drop at the heel to put the shooter in a more classic 'upright head' position. the akms had far less drop to deliver recoil in more of a straightline in order to help control the muzzle in burst and sustained fire modes. inline (straight stocked style) stocks became all the rage in america and to some extent, also in europe. |
