I have a WASR 10 and a SAR1 that don't have threaded barrels.  I would like to add a slant brake to each one.  From what I've read/heard Romanians have 14x1 Left handed threading.  Should I rent a kit off the ee and thread it with this or go with another threading?  What's common practice on this?  Would I just need to buy a detent spring and denent to install it?  Anyone got a how-to on installing a brake?  I know it should be a no brainer but it's my first time dealing with AKs.

I rented a set off of another site back when the ban dropped.  I just lubed everything up with breakfree and slowly threaded the barrel.  It turned out just fine and the slant brake screwed on to the new threads with out a problem.  If you can rent it from EE then thats the way to go...

Rent from wjm on the EE.  It takes about 10 minutes.  Just follow the written directions included with wjm's kit.

I rented one to thread my SAR-1.  Make sure there is a spud to fit in the barrel.  That will properly align the die with the bore.  I rented the die & spud, bought some oil.  Just remember to cut a little, back it off, clean out the chips and thread a little more.  If you flip the die over, you can continue the threads right to the FSB.  I had a hell of a time removing the pin so I could install the retainer.  I ended up having to heat it up with a torch.  In the process, it very nicely blackened the oil that I had put on the threads to keep them from rusting.
