What's the point of the little spring inside of the buttstock? I took mine out to refinish the wood but it wont stay in place like it was before. Does it even serve a purpose?

It's for the buttstock cleaning kit. The spring helps push the tubular cleaning kit out of the buttstock. The best way to reinsert the spring into the stock is to use the cleaning kit to push it there. I'm guessing you don't have a cleaning kit.

I didn't get one of those. I got a romanian kit from copes, are they supposed to be included?

Neither of the Romy kits I got came with a cleaning kit. I didn't get mine from Copes though.

I don't think any of the Romanian kits came with the cleaning kits. You can probably pick one up for around $4 to $5 though. Here's what one looks like...
