[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Single stack to double stack ? ? ?

Hello one and all . . .

Have a friend that is trying to sell me a Romanian "single stack" AK. Caliber of 7.62 x 39mm. Comes with a couple of the 10 round single stack mags, but who want's a 10 round AK ?!?!?!?

So . . . .

I've read "somewhere" that these buggers can be coverted to a double stack mag. Is that true ? ? ?
Doubt it would be much of a problem to "open" the receiver, but what about the truinion -- any modification needed there ? ?

Any other modification needed -- bolt, carrier ? ? ?

It this something I can do at home with "hand tools" -- Dremel, files, vise, die grinder ? ? ?

Will it be a RELIABLE AK once the mods are complete ? ?

Yes ? ? No ? ?

Any opnions ? ?

Just open mag well..Nothing to it really...Is it a wasr???
No other mods should be needed..
Dremel and file should be all you need..And they are reliable..

Sounds like a pretty good deal..Just remember what Campy said..High cap means proper part count...

They wholesaled at about $180. Just refer to your hicap 47 well and open her up. Add 5 US parts and enjoy!
