jams every third round, recoil throwing the bolt carrier far enough back it jumps off the rails into the takedown slot.

Do I need to trim the recoil spring?  Weld additional metal into the slot? (It seems to measure very closely to my other AKs)  Can I just stick a piece of hard rubber at the rear of the receiver to act as buffer/spacer?

I haven't had this with any previous build.  All have worked fine.

Swapped out carriers and springs, and it still does it.  That carrier and spring work fine in another AK.  So it's related to the rails or trunnion.

Some report using an aftermarket buffer solves the problem.

I can do that.  It looks like the left release slot is a little long.  I'm going to try welding some metal in there first, and refile it to spec.

yes I would weld a fill to bridge the gap then profile it.Make sure your receiver gap is in spec, across one side to the other, sometimes the gap opens up when ya rivet, especially the center rivet before ya weld just to cover that base.I had one do this.

It's a little wide, but square with the rear trunnion.  Drunken romys.

easier to put in a $10 recoil buffer.

Yeah, but I prefer a permanent fix.

What receiver did you use?
