I purchased this (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS006-44765-2712.html) side mount for my recently purchased GP WASR-10.  All of the reviews for this mount at every site I've found have been favorable.

However, on my rifle the picatinny top is a little more than 1/2 an inch off center to the right.  I'll post a pic when I get home tonight...

Is this normal or supposed to be like this for some reason, or is there a problem?  It seems to be on right and is rock solid and straight but this offset is annoying and my red dot doesn't want to adjust that far to the left to be on target.

FWIW, my Kobra with integral mount is pretty much centered over the bore on my Vector.   I've read that apparently some mounts are off either left or right, but don't know anything other than that.  Sorry.

I can't help you with your question, but I'd like to know about the bipod you have on that WASR!

Bipod is off a hunting rifle of mine, got it at a Knob Creek gun show, generic with no markings.  Put it on my WASR to help me try and zero in my red dot.  Its actually kind of useful when I have the slant break on the rifle, but with the birdcage it jumps around WAY too much to be useful.

Normal L or R variation in combloc rails, 1/8" not a huge issue in a 2-3moa 200yd gun, but if you need dead center, you usually need to grind and tap a new top rail.

Don't know how far you have to shift it, but perhaps you could cut/grind fashion a piece of steel or aluminum the right thickness to fit and work as a spacer between the receiver and mount.
