I tore down my SKS but failed to notice just which way the recoil spring goes in. There is a thick end; and theres a telescopic with removable collar end. Which goes into the bolt-carrier?

The thinner end goes to the rear. The thick end that looks somewhat like a wadcutter bullet goes to the front.
