I am new to the AK bug. I was planning to buy one of the Yugo underfolders from Southern Ohio Gun next week. It turns out that the ones they offer now have a Romanian receiver instead of the DC Industries receiver. They still want $429 which means about $500 from my FFL. Is the quality the same? Is there a better deal to be had. I am willing to spend a little shy of $700 total if it is a QUALITY weapon. I haven't had time to read all the threads here. Is there a better place to get a Yugo underfolder than SOG? I want the best quality AK for +- $600. Opinions welcome. Thanks for the replies. Here is the link to the rifle that I speak of.

Looks like the usual Yugo parts on a DCI receiver.

Why do you think the receiver is Romanian?

The rep from SOG said that the receiver is Romainan in an email. SOG had deleted the part including DC Industries from the description within the last week.

For $700 you are in the range of a preban Chinese 56S, chances are it'll shoot alot better than that Yugo. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about any US compliance parts if you want to change the furniture or what not.

My past experience with the reps at SOG makes me doubt that they could tell me which end the bullet comes out of.

I really doubt they've got Yugo kits on Romanians receivers.
