i've never done it. i did have a go-kart frame that was powder coated. under racing abuse it held up no better than regular paint.

i noticed that harbor freight has a powder coating/sprayer setup for sale for only $59.

I've powdercoated several guns and or parts at my shop. when done properly, it looks quite good. The finish is heavier than spray paint, and seems to hold up better. I don't know how well it would hold up on a field gun, but I might try it on my SAR-1 and let you know.

Chris @ www.ak-103.com powdercoats his Saiga converstions.  From what I've been reading, the finish is well liked.  My ak101 should be here shortly, so I'll let ya know.

take care,

M700POLICE "from another forum" had ak-103.com Powder Coat his gun.
It looks nice.  I'm thinking about making my Very own M700POLICECLONE.  Sorry Campy.

Does anyone have experience with the people at AK-103.com?  Can you recomend them or has anyone heard of problems?

Well, I just shipped my SAR-2 today to AK-USA. I'll let you folks know how it turned out. I'm getting it refinished in black powder coat, along with the typical Campy Clone modifications.

They seem pretty awesome thus far. Everyone has praised their work pretty much. It's actually a one man operation (the guy's name is Chris). He's originally from IL, and he's a cool guy to talk to.
