I am going to sell my 2003 SAR2 after I get the SEAK and was wondering about selling to someone in another state (of mind that is If I sell it in state, does it have to be sent to a dealer with an FFL? Kind of confused on this... |

You can personally send it to an out of state ffl. (It doesn't have to go through an ffl holder on your end). It does have to go through an ffl on the buyers end. In a personal face to face transaction, you don't have to go through an ffl. Just make sure you complete any necessary paperwork your state may require, if any. |

any shipping, in state or out, has to be done TO a valid ffl holder. i always ask for a signed-in-ink copy in advance of shipment to insure that i am not in violation of the law when i ship. you can ship direct to that ffl...no need, legally, to have an ffl ship the firearm for you. |

use the usps. for me its the least hassle. ive shipped 3 guns myself in the last 8 or 9 months. the first one i tried to go through UPS but after about 30mins of BS at the counter i left. i took it to my local PO and they never gave me a hard time. they just asked to photocopy the ffl and that was it. oh and it came out to half the price that ups wanted. and that was for priority. i should add: you CANNOT send handguns though us PO, long guns only. the usps website asks that you "disable" the firearm. i just took the bolt out, but they never aksed if i had done so. |

Some FFL's will not send a copy of thier license to individuals. I know mine wont. They will only send it to other dealers. When I bought my serbu .50 and my SEAK he made it very clear that it was only to go to dealers/other FFL's and no individuals. BTW what are you asking for your SAR2? |
| If a transfer of the firearm is to take place and the rifle is being shipped via common carrier, it'll need to go to an FFL. In-state shipment of a firearm to yourself and shipment to and from a manufacturer for repairs are the only times I can think of that don't involve an FFL. |

You mean this: "(B8) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U. S. Postal Service? [Back] A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own state or to a licensee in any state. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. A nonlicensee may not transfer any firearm to a nonlicensed resident of another state. The Postal Service recommends that longguns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms." So, I can send instate without an FFL, but not out of state. Not a problem. Thanks for the link. LHD, I am asking $300.00. Got it NIB from Aim Surplus in December of last year and put a total of 50 rounds through it. I need the funds to fund another project. Selling it with two 30rnd baklite mags, sling and cleaning kit. Saving the 5 rounder for the SEAK. |
www.atf.gov/firearms/index.htm about a third of the way down on the right hand side= FFL eZ check |

Thanks! As far as I am concerned, anybody can get a copy of another ffl and run it thru the scanner to put their own address info on it. But if it is on the Fed's list, I'll be comfortable sending it to them. PS- a $10 hard case is a bargain against shipping gremlins |
