Very nice.  It appears the mount is windage adjustable?

Yes it is adjustable for windage and we have a set screw to level it to get close for elevation. It was important to make the mount some what adjustable before you start zeroing due to the fact not all of the trunions on these guns are perfect. The other thing that can become a issue is the sight pocket may not be straight or cut on the C/L of the bore. We have made this to give the user some adjustment in case he has a not so perfect rifle. We have a couple really bad ones that we use just for this reason and these mounts work just fine on them.

You guys pretty much read my mind on this, I've been wanting a mount that replaces the rear sight and doesn't add any rails I wouldn't use. I was looking all over for an Irondot but they've been basically nonexistent for a couple years now, and I pretty much gave up. Awesome solution.

PA Gen 7 micro has the non-removable base, for rail mount only.

Honestly, I think a pic railed version will be more popular because of this reason: it is simply more versatile and allows more options just like the pic railed version of your handguard. Although I understand the supply/demand issues that you mentioned,  I believe a pic railed version will sell better than the rest: Fastfire is prone to damage from recoil (which is the reason the LaRue Irondot did not sell) and the rest is too expensive for most people. I myself will get a pic railed version in a heart beat, but now I have to wait. I think it is a viable alternative to the TWS Dog Leg rail, which is an excellent product but more expensive. I  like the windage adjustment feature very much as it resolves many problems associated with canted front sight  and stiff windage drums in an AK. All in all an excellent product, much better designed than the ATTERO version.  I am not particularly concerned about co-witness issues.

Really? I've had a 1st gen Fastfire for four years mounted on various weapons including a 12ga shotgun. Still works. I do like the idea of a pic rail version in case one wants to change to a different optic, or easily remove a damaged one.

Re: fastfire
This is what I read in another forum, although I have no personal experience, but then one has to ask the question:why did LaRue d/c their irondot? Is it an optic issue or mount issue? If a mount issue, why is it that Larue cannot fix it, considering their reputation? It is like EOTECH, some people have bad experience w/ it but some swear by it. May be you have a good specimen and are lucky.

Add: the problem w/ optic specific mount is that if the optic dies, what  other recourse do you have? Buy another of the same when the first one dies or go to a different optic, which you obviously cannot? This is the reason a pic rail works best .

The built in iron sights?  Buy another optic?

Up until now, none of the picatinney rail mounting options would allow the optic to co-witness... that's why people used the ultimak to mount their stuff; it gets hot, but it co-witnesses.  By using the optic specific mounts, they can get the optic down lower so you can see your sights.  You may not be able to see your sights by the time you put the pic rail and the rail mount hardware under the optic.

Cowitnwss not critical in my opinion. Use a quick detach mount instead in case optic dies to switch to irons.
A friend of mine, ex-SF, actually uses the screen of his eotech as his back up rear sight and centers the front sight in the center of the screen. In very close range, it is good enough.

You should be using the small set screw at the rear to get the mount close to level. You must make sure your button heads can bite onto the trunion. You can then use your front sight to get you elevation for your zero. Do not use the rear set screw for the purpose of trying to achieve a true co-witness . That is not how this was designed. It was designed around a lower one third . We have 8 different rifles here and we have tried this on all. No problems. I am sure there will be rifles out there where problems may occur . Welcome to the world of the AK.

Pictures on our website. The only visible improvement is the addition of one tapped hole and screw. We did not redesign the whole thing as there was no need. We add one tapped hole a hardened fulcrum type pin and require you to remove the stock rear sight spring. A simple effective fix for a simple highly effective rifle.
