The July 1984 edition if Solider of Fortune magazine contained the first introduction to the new Soviet carbine. I posted it on Reddit but figured you guys are probably the better crowd.

I have all the SOFs from #1 till 2000 or so. Those articles, especially about the ordnance, saved a few of my ODA members' lives. I printed out tons of stuff for them that they used in AFG in 03/04. None of the 18B's knew about the 0-second fuses on the F1's or a bunch of other stuff like the AGS-17 rounds not being spin armed. Good stuff there man! |

I bought that when it was on the shelves. It's funny how you can forget something, and then when you see the first photo, you know every photo in the article. We had a drug store in my little town that sold a lot of magazines and comic books. The guy that ran it was an older guy, but he loved guns, sci-fi, and Mad magazine. My dad's store was across the street, and I pretty much lived at that store. So I'd walk over and grab a snack, ice cream, a soda, and some magazine and comic books from Mr. William's drug store at least twice a week when I was a kid. Anytime I got paid I'd spend it there, and next door at Western Auto on ammo and gun stuff, video games and that kind of thing. I started working when I was in first grade, lol , seriously. |
