Thanks to kilowhiskey for the suggestion on this. He suggested a thread of a list of people by area that have experience in building and/or tools for loan or rent. If you have build experience and/or tools, and wouldn't mind sharing them, post your location here. You may also want to post what tools you have available, prefered contact info and whatever else you think is relevant. As the list grows, I will add to this post a list of home builders by state and location in the state. Hey FL guys, I am in Lakeland Florida and need to throw together all the parts I have sitting around the house (romy/global). I'm a first timer, and need someone to show me the ropes, but be gentle,  I will buy beer for all those who help me  Willing to drive, I recently sold my AR, and want to "join the dark side" Please help, as I do not have a working long-gun, only a glock fotay  and need to fend off the coming zombie hords IM me if you are interested in free beer |

Battle Ground WA Just north of Portland I actually work in the Lloyd Tower next to the mall Just started my first build (maybe my last) So if I have any extra parts or AK specific tools when I am complete I would probably trade/give them away. Not like you can use rivet smashers for anything other than rivet smashing..... kind of like being a tanker in a civilian world never thought of that before..... anyways, can I contact you guys if I run into anymore issues? |

OK...........Tom "tomovich" Sargis Jr. here. Big Sky Country..........MONTANA. South-central part of the state (rural, in the sticks) just north of Yellowstone Nat'l Park. Cowboy Gunsmith for a living and Reserve Deputy and Dept Armorer for fun (sort of.........)  Lathe 14x40 Bench mill belt sander band saw grinders buffer blast cabinet (w/ compressor) wire-feed MIG welder dremel (my main tool) modified and properly functioning bolt-cutter rivet smooshers 20T hydraulic press 2T hand arbor press small bluing and park set up a huge oven good up to 1500º for heat treating a/o baking a whole bunch of BFH's shitloads of hand tools metal hand stamps of all sizes including some Cyrillic I won't do your work for you and you can't come and use my shop (it's my living) but advice is FREE FREE FREE, as Gomer Pyle used to say.

I have: 12 ton press drill press MAPP torch MIG welder 2 bolt cutter rivet tools TG rivet jig long rivet jig Dremel compressor air tools, lots of hand tools bench grinder benches vises park tank gunkote ovens and most important, beer fridge and XM radio! South Dallas area I have the following tools: air compressor air tools grinders chop saw mig welder oxy/acetylene torch vise all sorts of hand tools somewhat limited access to a 40 ton press (a press is next on my wish list) I have no experience (yet) with kit building. This will soon change. I have some Romy kits coming my way right now. I would be interested in lending a hand with someone's project, and learning a few things in the process. |
Seems like there are a good number of folks here in the DFW area. I have some kits heading my way right now. A couple others mentioned having kits to build. What do you guys think about getting together sometime for a build? I am very mechanically inclined, but I have no AK building experience. I would like to learn the tricks from some of these more experienced folks. What do you think? Anyone else from DFW interested? |

We've built 7 kits since October 05. Only thing that we need now is parkerizing! And more ammo.
