I have a Yugo M64 kit.  Can I use a regular AK flat or receiver to build this kit?  Or do I have to get a milled kit for the M64?  I just don't want to buy the wrong thing. Thanks.

since the M64 has a threaded barrel, headspacing is going to be an absolute BITCH on a new receiver.

I highly recommend you find someone to reweld new side plates onto the original existing receiver stubs.  it'll be much easier in the end.

Do you have any idea where I could find out how it should be done?  I know 2 guys that are welders by trade, one of them is an outstanding welder.

unless these guys you know happen to have an FFL that allows them to manufacture firearms other than destructive devices (also known as a Type 07FFL) then you definitely don't want them committing a felony to help you.

take a look at theakforum.net and look up member "turbothis".  i have yet to see work any better than his on rewelds.
