I have an Arsenal SLR106 that i bought preowned and it fails to fire about 50% of the time. The hammer drops on the loaded chamber and just a click. Some of the FTF rounds have no firing pin strike, and some have light hits. I am guessing the most likely problem is the firing pin channel is gummed up and the pin cant move when struck? The firing pin should be floating and be easily moved within the bolt while held by the retaining pin right?
If after the firing pin/pin channel are cleaned and i have further FTF problems, would a 5.45 pin replacement work? I know the 7.62 pins are a different size and i never saw a 5.56 pin. |

It does sound like a problem with the firing pin. I would take it apart and examine it for damage. The firing pin should not float around in this particular bolt because it is spring loaded.
If there is damage to the firing pin K-var may have replacements. I do not know if a 5.45 firing pin will work. Someone will probably be along to give you better and more definitive answers and advice. I looked on kvar's website and I cannot find a firing pin replacement for the slr-106. |

The 106 has a spring loaded firing pin, but you may have other problems. Is it going all the way into battery? What ammo are you using? its going into battery properly and the rifle had a full field stripped cleaning prior to the range. I used two types of factory ammo that functions perfectly in my ARs. I took the bolt and tried to press the rear of the pin with a solid object to see if the tip of the firing pin would protrude from the bolt face and it did not. It did move forward just a hair and stopped even after i added more pressure than i was sure the hammer would produce. next stop will be for a complete stripping of the bolt. I hope that the pin is ok cuz i cant find a single website that sells spring loaded firing pins for a SLR-106 |
