The charging handle looks great!  (The rest of it looks great too!)  Would you mind posting some pics of the bolt carrier off the gun.  One of these days I plan on building another AK; I want to get a feel for how you did it?...

Treetop beat me to it, it just bolts on and feels great. I wasn't sure it would work with the Krebs safety lever but they work well together. I used red loc-tite so I don't think I could get it back off if I wanted to.

Aftermath of a painting party. This is my converted 5.45 Saiga. I think the sidefolder is E. German, it has the little lever you push to lock in either position. I rather like the Tapco Saiga rifle forearm, gives a little more handroom up front and gives the weapon a different outline, which I enjoy.

Optic mount is a super-cheap UTG throw lever type and the red dot is a NCStar which was dead on out of the box and has survived dozens of magdumps and rides in the back of a pickup over rough terrain without any noticeable drift in POA/POI. Not bad for a $30 optic.

Thanks Burt. I used Krylon camo tan and green. I have seen Aervoe used befire and its a superior paint. I just don't care to wait for it in the mail.

My suggestion, if you have more patience than me, order some Aervoe.

what type of pistol grip is that on the AK?

I think it's a Yugo, could be Bulgarian. I'm not an expert on AK parts provenance. I got it because it had a raised US on the opposite side.

My latest project- a short Wz88 Tantal. I call it the Tantal-105. With the brake permanently installed the barrel will be 16.5".

ETA: I understand NYS law. The above picture is only a mockup held together with tape and gravity. The "barrel" is a demilled gas piston inserted to hold the muzzle brake in place.  When completed the rifle will use a Warsaw Pact length fixed stock.

This. It looks like a milled type selector stop installed on a stamped receiver.

Looks very nice!  When your AK’s finally all riveted together and “NYS-ified”, it’s going to be one handsome rifle!...

$200 something Century I got off the EE a while ago. No stock, just barrel and receiver plus internals. Polish underfolding stock and trunnion that's been sitting in my closet for 3 years. Sent out to a smith and there ya go

It's nothing fancy. Gonna shoot it for awhile and see how I like it. I may rebuild it on an LLC receiver with a real bulgy barrel. Maybe even an SBR 105 type....who knows. However, if I do like it, definitely going to do the 74 LLC receiver if its as fun as I think it will be.

Correct.  I ordered the fixed (non-recoil reducing) tube but Mako sent me the recoil reducing tube by mistake.  I kept it.

So I have a recoil reducing stock mounted on a recoil reducing tube.  Crazy shit but I like it.
Sometimes if we are out of stock on an item we will upgrade the order so that the customer does not have to wait.

I don't have the funds to make her look 'non traditional'. Eventually she will be, but she won't look like a UTG/Leapers demo gun when she is.

I realize the "fail"there with the dust cover mount. I'm going to mount my EOTech to the MI quad but I was in an "experimental" mode and just liked the look.

To the owner of this rifle.

Is this a registered NFA rifle? SOT type thing?

If not, you might want to take the pics down or have the rifle rebuilt on a different receiver.

It's so lame that you can just buy full autos anymore unless they were made in the 80s or before.  All that does is allow rich people to have them....what the hell does that accomplish?  Stupid gun laws.  If you are a upstanding citizen with a squeaky clean record, you shoul dbe able to buy anything in my opinion.  Sorry...my rant is over.
