Hi! I just noticed that we have more people I don't know these days than people I do know on our darkside of ar15. So, who the hell are all you people  I'm from Wisconsin - Married (13 years) - two kids 10 and 6 ... I just turned 35 years old ... FAL's, AK's, AK stuff  , AR's, Garands, HK, and other toys |
Married 6 years. NO kids and I will keep it that way. 20 years in the Army and 3 to go. Started looking here when I saw the SG russian milled AK they had last year. Picked that kit up and it kinda got out of hand 20 AK kits later. The folks here seem to be nicer when you have questions or problems. I think I have hit the AR side once or twice since. Good peoples here.

| 41 year old Detecitve. Regular SASS shooter and all around gun collector. Pretty much if it goes bang I like it. I have owned 5 different AR's and 3 AK's. Plus a bunch of other stuff. Everytime I pointed my AR at a bad guy the sergeants would wet their pants so I sold them. The powers that be want us to have them but not use them. I like AK's much better. |

I started out as an AR guy but found the Dark Side very intriguing. Now I’m up to 3 AKs and looking to add more to the collection. I’ve been married for 14 years (to the same woman), 2 kids, 1 dog, 2 hermit crabs and one fish. I’m a C# & ASP.NET programmer (was a Java programmer for years) and my main passion is riding and racing mountain bikes. |

well pretty simple for me, if it goes bang i have owend it at some point in time. i got tired of my Ar for awhile and sold off most of them. i am down to 6 so i cant say i copletly got rid of them, i have a ar180 i love and then i also love Daewoo so i like a gas piston, what can i say. i also love Fal but i have always had at least 1 AK in the stable. i have short arms so the AK stock was made for me it fits me well and now that my vision is gone i cant see to shoot long distance so the AK fits perfect into my style of shooting. so here i am. then -Duke-Nukem- had to become a Sot and make things even worse to have a best freind open a gun shop that bulds Ak well..... you get drawn in even more. almost forgot ....age 32, Male...small town in Mo, lived here my whole life will die here. all in all computer geek that gets paid use to be paid well to right code on machines nobody wants anymore. Nate, 19. I go to college here in Orlando. Bought my first AR(Bushy M4) at 16, sold it at 18 and bought 5 AK's ranging from a kit build to a preban chinese polytech. Ive sold most of them so i dont have to work while going to school, but got bored and got a new job and am slowly saving up for some kits to put together. The only real excitement in my life if working out, as I head off to OCS this summer for 6 weeks. Call me a heretic, but i'm looking forward to it. Ive shot AR's alot, but never an M16-or anything select fire for that matter. Well, truly select fire, I had the ATF after me for bumping my WASR10GP off at a range.

Tom "tomovich" Sargis Jr. here. Big Sky Country MONTANA. Just turned 50 going on about 25. Married to Natasha from Novgorod Veliki, Russia, Two children, Tommy III (4yr) and Remi (yes, Remington!), she's about 2.5 years. I'm a Reserve Deputy and Dept. Armorer, full time self employed and semi-famous Cowboy Gunsmith.  Been written up in several magazines, several times, but only know to people that shoot Cowboy stuff (Colt SAA's and Winchesters) I would imagine. I own three "different" M4 clones but about 17 ~ 20 AK's. I've lost count actually. I've been "secretly" building AK's since about '93? Collecting AK's and other 'Russki Oruzhii' wasn't enough so I married a Russian too! Howdy 'all! I mean.......Zdraztvuitya kolegi!

| hello there im 22 live in recently moved to florida. and i love guns never had them as a kid or even go to shoot one. at 21 i got my first .22had it for maybe 2 months and sold it. used that money and money from my tax refunds to buy my first "real" gun an ak47 never looked back. |

Howdy all, your resident flatlander Dawg here. 29 (almost 30, just a month to go!), Architect/Musician/Hobbyist Gunsmith by trade and have been shooting since I took a Small Arms course in college about 8 years ago. Picked up a Ruger 10/22 about 5 years ago, and the collectino has just kept growing since! Moved into AR's, and after building one from scratch I finally moved on here to the AK side. Bought my first AK about two months ago, and I already have parts kits and am bending a flat to do an AK from scratch. The spare room in my apartment is rapidly become a small workshop, and if Harbor Freight keeps sending me 20% off coupons I hopefully will end up reversing the trades to Gunsmith/Musician/Architect by the time I turn 31!

Been here on the AK side for a while. I just started posting heavily because of the barrel ban thing and I'm trying to prepare for it..... Married, 2 kids, one on the way, in college for undergrad, 1 AK, 1/2 AR (these things are expensive!), 1 handgun......not enough ammo. |

Hi all. Ray here, almost 56. West of Rochester, N.Y. Technically a retired Mechanical Engineer, realistically one that is unemployed and looking. 1 child of my own, now a grown man of 35, 2 grandkids. Helping to raise (3) 'teens with my fiance  (Yikes! what am I doing?), and her 81 year old father who sometimes is tougher on us than the kids. Which explains why we are trying hard to stay put locally despite the tough job market when common sense says that it's time to go. I like playing with mechanical things, and the wide variety of firearms available satisfies that itch. I've learned a lot here, and as it's been stated, this is a friendly place to learn, hang out ,and sometimes vent on. Great folks here. |

I joined the boards here to contact a fellow about an SLR-105A1R on the EE. I should hopefully have that in my hands within a week or two. :) I went from having never fired a gun, to owning almost 2. I have several AK's and would consider myself an AKholic. I have many hobbies including building AK's, riding motorcycles, military vehicles, SCUBA diving and collecting shoulder launched anti tank weapons. I'm Engaged to be married to my soul mate, we've been together for 6 years but have known eachother for 20. We're both Armenian, yet she was born in Lebanon and i was born in the motor city. Other than AK's i enjoy collecting and shooting Military firearms from all countries and periods, I am well versed in US militaria. McM

My name is Will, I'm 23, military. I seemed to have started with com-block guns and collected them for several years. I missed a few years collecting while being overseas but had perfect timing coming back a month after the AWB ended. I like commie guns because they simply work, and have less parts. When I go to the range I don't wanna have the same thing everyone else has. I like the feeling of having somthing unique at the range. When I took my AR-15 to the range for the first time, everyone had one and I was dissapointed.  I felt like I had just stepped into the wanna be military crowd where everybody thinks they are the coolest badass. On the AR-15 side the gear is what seems to drive the crowd. You get judged by the kind of gear and loot you have hanging off and how many quest points you have. Kinda reminds me of the online RPG gaming crowd if you know what I mean....  The quest points being the number of posts you have... I think out of all the guns I have traded or sold, my AKS-74 is what I miss the most. Some day I'll get another one but I'll be going with an Arsenal next time so it shoots better than 8 MOA. It just seemed to shoulder and fire easy with little recoil. The muzzle brake on it was excellent. I could fire as fast as I wanted and it always stayed on target without walking up. Felt like I was shooting an HK MP5 but with better ballistics. |

im Matt, 20 years old....and since discovering firearms, ive been spending all my earnings and savings on them...no regrets there..... only regret I have is selling off my Vector Arms AK,...that was a mistake. Started shooting freshman year (3 years ago), now im up to 12 rifles, 3 of which are AKs...I plan on constructing/finishing another 2 from kits into rifles when I move out of NY.... |

This is my very first trip into the AK tab. I saw this post and felt compelled to post. First, let me say -- I love guns. All kinds...but for many years I have stayed away from the AK. I was brought up thinking the AK was the gun of the enemy. Over the years, I have heard good things regarding the AK's reliability, how inexpensive they are and cheap to shoot. I still stayed away, always coming up with one excuse or another: I shot an SKS once and was turned off by its crudeness. The AK doesn't have any modern features to mount a light or a rail for an optic. You name it, I always had a reason. Some time ago, I had a gun for sale and was offered a partial trade. The gun was an AK. I found myself interested and curious. Unfortunately, I didn't know much about AK's (still don't). The deal fell through and I found myself still curious. I think my curiosity is getting the better of me and I feel like I should explore the AK possibilities. I may start clicking the AK tab more often in search of more information...feel free to enlighten me: good brands...brands to stay away from...whatever may be important to know. |

I'm Tim, 35, divorced. I started working in a gunshop with a range when I was 16. One of my duties was teaching people how to shoot the Class 3 subguns we rented on the range....UZI, MP5A3, Thompson M1A1. Pretty cool job for a 16 year old. Then went to another gun shop, school and gun shop, more gun shop, more school, marriage, gunshop, divorce, gunshop, and finally switched tracks in December. I'm totally out of the "industry" and have a degree in History and another in Anthropology that I'm not using either of them at all. I have owned/sold/bought again more toys than I care to remember. I've been "into" AK's since the early 80's. My first AK was a Clayco underfolder. Wish I still had it. Anwyay, I'm an "AK Guy", but I own many other toys and like them all. My main interests are military firearms, whether they are flintlocks or a caseless rifle, I'm all about it. I own a few AK's, an AR (Colt kool-aid drinker), FAL, Smith M14 and Andrewski Mk. 4 Sterling. I shoot competitively in IDPA, and help run and organize some local matches including "tactical" rifle and shotgun matches, which some of the members here come to and have a lot of fun with. I joined AR15.com after Gunsnet imploded, and I honestly feel it's the finest discussion forum on the web. Proud to know (most) of you guys!

| My name is Jay and I'm 23. I'm doing my last year of a fiver in the Marines and will be moving back to Idaho this November. My first rifle was a VEPR, I got it last month but I've been shooting my whole life. I've been planning to get an AR but the more I dwell on this side, the more I am shaken of that thought. I still will though for variety's sake. Outside of firearms, my interests are in Honda cars (not the SUPER obnoxious type though, only slightly) and sportbikes. I currently ride a Yamaha R6. I plan on going to school as soon as I live in Idaho again. |

| David--23 yrs old. Bachelor, but still looking. I'll be graduating with a BA in History with a Minor in Spanish language this April. My tastes in guns run with my tastes in subjects. Most of what I have is C&R, but I have always loved the AKs. A good balance with my brother (also here on the boards) who is into the AR side of things. I will probably be losing 1 AK, a Polytech double folder very soon (rent has a way of coming due every month), but that will still leave me with 2 Maadis, both of which have treated me well. My consolation is that I may have enough spare capital from the Polytech sale to get some kind of UF AK, which will put everything in balance again. I'll keep my fingers crossed here. I've been around since my brother told me about ARFcom, and have spent a lot of time here learning all kinds of tricks and other great info. Any newbies that read this post: Hang out on the Darkside of ARFcom. We are usually pretty kind, and though we may bash Romy (Century) AKs once in a while, we tolerate everyone's budgets. An AK is still an AK, and we can all agree that they are much eviler (read cooler) than any Mattel special. |
