| I see this alot and find it shocking considering that I dont even need to lean at all to negate recoil. Some of these people put so much head pressure on their stock too. I shoot 2.91 exclusively and when I do shoot low optic mounts, I have the rifle over my shoulders lol. |

I do, not just to help mitigate recoil but it helps stabilize while moving. Also makes it easier to change positions. It created a very natural and stable position for me in many different scenarios. Also it was the way I was instructed and trained to do so it comes natural for me now. |
| So I will admit when I was shooting on the move the other week using someone else's ground rules I did as they told me to do the toe to heal duck walk which involves lowering my body with a forward lean. I favor natural movement and shooting upright, with the acknowledgement that squatting is an intuitive position that people getting shot at drop into a crouch/squat without any instruction. I have no objection to women or others who need to lean forward doing so in my classes. |

Recoil anticipation is pretty common, so this is one way to compensate:![]() How To Fix Recoil Anticipation with Rossen Hristov from Tactical Performance Center |

You would not stand straight up in a fist fight or in a wrestling match or getting ready to take a hit on the football field.. You are not practicing to shoot paper, you are practicing to be in a fight. You need to be stable, you have a bunch of weight in your vest, you need to move, you need to react, you need to be stable in your stance. How much lean is variable but body stability and consistency is important. |

Recoil control for follow up shots is a component, but it's mostly about maintaining a fighting stance, and avoiding getting knocked over on your ass. |
