If you can make it to a match, do it. Im a big time newb and still learning. Shooting NRL reignited my love of shooting. I shot another match last weekend and had a kick ass time. Open heavy but just barely. Day 1 started out extremely rough for me. I had lots of issues finding targets. Once I did, I was connecting. Last half of Saturday went great. Sunday was great. Only dropped a few points but zero'd one stage. A couple big name shooters zero'd the stage as well. It was a tough one. Compared to my last match- -cleaned more stages -got a higher overall -wayyy more first round impacts -used much less of my 4 minutes -my wind calls were excellent despite the conditions Things to work on- -finding targets and keeping their location between glass and rifle. Tip-the really hard to find targets (long distance or small or obscured or color blending) are gonna be along contours or lines that the eye is drawn to. -new tripod. My Amazon special works ok if you have time but its not that stable to shoot off. Its also slow to deploy for locate/range Im pretty fortunate that my employer pays for my ammo and entry. They also pretty much built my rifle It was pretty windy for us but not nearly as bad as the RO shoot.
