Hats off to Lena having fun here and being honest with this: Can I Pass the MOST DIFFICULT Shooting Qualification with ZERO WARMUP? | US Federal Air Marshall There is no doubt the FAM qual is difficult, but the limitations of competitive shooting in real world scenarios are really on show here. Wikipedia says Lena is the top multi-discipline female competitor in the world, but right away she admits she hasn't touched her carry pistol "in months" "and months" "and months" Her draw from concealment wasn't terrible, but a 1.74 sec draw from appendix concealment isn't very impressive. Her followup "fast draw" was 1.63 sec. That is with a Red dot optic and hands starting near the concealment garment. For civilians in the real world the accurate draw and shoot from concealment is essential and may in fact be a fight ender in itself. Lena is world class in the competitive world, but not in the real world. She fails the FAM qual right of the bat, but to her credit continues on with another try. She fails again badly (and mis-scores her target) while admitting she doesn't even carry a spare mag out in the world. So all of her world class reload from open carry skills are completely useless to her in real life. She does a fair job at reloading from concealment (sounds like something she doesn't normally practice) but still fails the stage due to time. One great takeaway from this video is that her mindset is outstanding. She talks herself through the setbacks and persists. Even though things didn't go her way that day she clearly has a winning mindset. |
