Several videos here of training exercises where non-threats get shot:  Tactical factors in speed shooting with Paul Howe One classic quote is "When speed/skill takes priority over discrimination you will likely have a problem" Some major points he mentions almost in passing, SpecOps guys get 50-to-60,000 rounds per year and are B-class pistol shots. That is with "unlimited" ammo, guns, ranges and instruction. Then he contrasts than with what LEO, church and school guardians get. It's a massive disparity in resources. I would say the truth is that Spec-Ops shooting standards are very achievable with far less ammunition. A mix of Dryfire, Mantis, airsoft, .22, and service caliber live fire is more efficient and won't cost you over $10K in ammo every year. But Paul rightly points out that discrimination training is a vital component of overall training. |
