| Couple quick questions. Do you guys use standard ammo when shooting steel targets? Then what would be a minumum safe distance to shoot it from? I don't believe i'd ever shoot any closer than 100 yds. Also I'm looking at building my own target system, any tips on this? |
Actually, I strictly use armor-piercing rounds. 
Nah, I use regular ammunition. I've done pistol and rifle training/practice with steel targets at about 10-15 yards on the lower end of things... Just make sure the target is tipped slightly forward towards you so the bullets deflect downward. For the most part, as long as you shoot at the targets perpendicular to them, you should be fine. I will say, nothing beats long distance shooting with steel targets. There's just something about the ding –– 3 seconds after pulling the trigger

-Michael I am like you Michael, there is nothing like shooting steel, I have it to 1250 yards, and can stretch that to 1750 for my 50.

Depends on the steel
I shot some "pistol" steel @ 150M with my 308 and it put a quarter sized hole through it |
