I actually just finished a multi-month test of several laser training systems including MantisX, Strikeman, and DryFireMag. If you are leaning toward Laser Academy, imo it works best when paired with the red laser DryFireMag. Standard laser cartridges require you to rack the slide after every shot, which gets tedious, builds a habit of breaking your grip to reset the gun, and limits training capabilities. Since the DryFireMag resets the trigger for you, it allows for follow-up shots and rapid transitions within the Mantis app. It makes the practice feel a lot more like actual shooting and gives you training flexibility. A spinoff question. I have asked a couple of systems and the answer came from who ever answered the phone. The question... will the system work with both red and green laser. It was either "I don't know" or "it might work, maybe" I have a NLT SIRT pistol I have had for years, however they originally worked where as long as the trigger was held back the laser stayed on. The red laser model I gave to my son and the one with a green laser I kept for myself. I recently converted mine to pulse the green laser each trigger press. I really like it as it is kinda Glockish and fits G17 holsters and it uses a CR123A lithium battery. I have had it for over 20 years with the same battery and only replaced it when I had the pistol apart to install the pulse control unit. I never desired the inserts for real pistols that use tiny button batteries as it seemed that one day of off and on practice it needed new batteries. Anyway... does anyone know for a fact that a green laser works with a specific system, or failing that... if a specific model for a fact does not work with a green laser? |
