| My current setups include a primary PC - esstac Daeodon w/ Hesco 4401's and several HSP chest rigs for 5.56/7.62 and APC 9/45. I have been running the Daeodon since 2020 and it's a great rig, but at 52 and hitting steep hills (16-21 degree grade), I am wanting to lighten the load. My thoughts are, do I set the Daeodon aside and get a JPC 2.0 with Hesco 3810's or just keep the Daeodon and pick up a more robust chest rig like the PLATATAC Peacekeeper Mk5? I train in my gear 1-2x a week and I am just looking to make a sensible choice in my gear. Obviously, as far as cost, the PLATATAC is a considerably cheaper option (by about $1k), but I am not in a role that exposes me to threats beyond an ND and when working with other team members, I would be wearing armor and just go with the Daeodon. Just wanting to spitball if it is worth the extra cost to just get a lighter carrier setup vs a better chest rig. I realize this is not a cut and dry inquiry, just looking for some consensus. I'm not really understanding, are you wearing a chest rig on top of the PC? Or are you talking placards? A more "robust" chest rig obviously isn't going to be lighter, it'd just be capable of holding more weight. Those Hesco plates are on the heavy side. Why not just get the 3810s and put them in the Daeodon? Me, I have (like most folks) things attached directly to the PC. I also have a separate chest rig, which holds everything that would be on the PC, for times when armor isn't necessary/appropriate. |

| I am 55 and swapped to level 3 plates. It is for sure a trade off but I never wanted to wear my level 4 plates and can wear the new ones a long time. They are also in the same Esstac carrier with elastic cumberbund. Makes the package pretty comfy. Shot a night match last weekend and wore them the whole time. The lighter plates make a huge difference. My level 4 plates were line 6 pounds each |

My level 4 plates were line 6 pounds each 52 here and as a former Infantry Marine, I can still suffer with the best of them but yeah, looking to go to a lighter PC setup. I just bought a PLATATAC Peacekeeper MK5 chest rig, so now I am looking at a new carrier and lighter plates to replace the esstac Daeodon. I figure I will just leave the esstac as-is for a level 4 threat setup. What plates did you end up going with? I am looking at a JPC 2.0 w/Hesco L211 plates |
