Has anyone here tried this mount? If so, did you use the 0 moa or 20 moa version? I have switched to a flattop with a Vortex Ranger scope now, but I don't have the mount yet. I haven't really sat down and worked out what I need to use to get out to 600.

I was able to get the 0 version to work for two different uppers with no elevation issues.
I will add, these don’t compare with high quality versions like the Geiselle mounts. I can take the Geiselle mount off and put it on a different rig, and then back again without being more than a click (0.25 MOA) several times. The Freedom Reaper has not been the same story no matter how I tried to finesse the process. I can easily get a 4 MOA shift. On the other hand, they don’t cost the same either. So I don’t complain about them. I just use them were I expect to let them sit steady and go. If you think you will be changing scopes often, get a higher quality mount. If this will sit, no worries. |

I bought one of these last year for my match service rifle. I never had a problem when I was using iron sights years ago because I as able to put my head in a very solid position where my nose was just touching the charging handle. That doesn’t work with an optical sight because the long eye relief causes me trouble with the optics shadowing out. I have been trying different cantilever scope mounts that move the rear of the scope as far forward as possible. The Freedom reaper looked like it would solve the problem.
Things worked relatively well with the Freedom Reaper except that the rifle would unexpectedly change elevation, either up 10 MOA or down by a similar distance. At first I thought it might be the scope itself, but Leupold suggest the problem might be in the freedom reaper mount. I also went back and retorqed the scope to DMZ’s specifications Since then I have been using the new Leupold cantilever mount, but am still having a problem with my prone position because I still have to move my head back on the stock to keep the scope from shadowing out. The problem with this is that in moving my head back, the butt is slipping in my shoulder causing verticle stringing downwards of the shots over a 10 shot rapid prone string. I am still working on this problem and will buy a new short eye relief optic for use next year, but I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and spring for the Geiselle NM super extended cantilever scope mount. I am just hoping that the new optic and the new scope mount solves the problem. Has any one else had the same problem with their scope shadowing over in the prone position? |
| If you don't use a 3" cantilever with an LPVO, you have to square up more by moving the support hand back on the handguard and raising the stock in shoulder. |
