I have heard of rifle shooters who are not suppressed doubling-up their hearing protection for a safer, more peasant experience. Ive got fairly dainty ears, so I think i fall into this category. Does anyone agree with this? What combination do you find best for protection and being able to hear instructions? I used to use passive (Peltor) protection and find it almost unsafe at this point; pop them off or adjust them at the wrong time and there can be serious damage. So I'm moving to electronic (Razors) for pistol. I have to think that a second layer of protection for indoor rifle is smart. Would SureFire Sonic Defender Ultras under something like Walker Razors work well, or is it overkill? Is there such a thing as Electronic muffs that really truly reduce indoor shooting to a complete non-issue? |

I wear Surefire EP 4 ear plugs with the plug removed and Impact electronic muffs. | Extremely loud, percussive sound (indoor rifle and outdoor rifle under a covered bench) can also be conducted by the mastoid bone, hence the benefit of double ear pro in such circumstances. |

I always wear NRR 30 earplugs with electronic ear muffs. Upgraded my electronic ears with the gel pads available on Amazon. Well worth the money. Double ear pro is highly desirable for rifle as long as you have ear muffs that are compatible with a rifle. Indoor SBR's are impressively LOUD! |
