I'm looking for a decent bench rest for the AR's and possibly a Rem 700 in the future.

Trying to keep it under $100.00.  It willl primarily be used to test the accuracy of reloads.

What do you all recommend?

I have drug my Caldwell rests all over the country, and after many years of use and abuse, they still work very well.

Some shooters prefer this over the original Lead Sled especially when it comes to AR platforms. Good for groups/load development, but would not work for something like F-Open competition.


Caldwell The Rock

Not as steady as a combined front & rear rest like the Sled above, but will still work well with a good rear bag. Could be used for F-Open competition.

I have not had the chance to try one yet, but it looks like it should work pretty well. Not sure how well the plastic will hold up over time with heavy use?


IMHO, whatever you get, weight is your friend in terms of getting the rifle on target and keeping it there. It sucks carrying around the weight, but light rests are not the best thing for groups/load development.

Shop around at whatever retailer you prefer (Midway, Natchez, etc) and all of these can be purchased for well under $100.
