Short video (7.5 min):![]() The nagging thing about my shooting Ben admits to finishing a competition after his front sight fell off during the stage.... with good results. Says he can typically shoot just find without sights or a red dot on his pistol. Uses sights to confirm or beyond 15 yards. He does this with grip, index, and target focus. COL Applegate would be proud. |

Every normal man, at times, must be tempted to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Watched many of his videos and have one of his books. Wish I had the cash to spend a day or two in his class. He has a way of explaining things that are easy for me to understand. Now go faster |
I was born in Birkenhead and I was poor , I was dressed from the local army and navy store and I can tell you its no fun going to school dressed as a Japanese admiral-UKjohn

Once you have trained it into muscle reflex you *keep trainining* till you get to the point where it takes so little concentration that you can start to think again while doing it. eta: this means you had better train right because un-training bad reflexes is incredibly hard. |

I'd say a lot of competition guys don't train much in the way of tactics or Force-on-Force. So they are kings of the hill at Weapons Manipulation and Fundamentals of Marksmanship... but may or may not have their head wrapped around the reality of 2-way range (Training Phases 2 & 3). That said, target focus goes a long way towards enhancing your OODA loop. The combat shooting techniques COL Applegate trained American soldiers doing the most dangerous missions of WW2 is remarkably similar to what Ben describes. COL Applegate learned shooting from his uncle who was an noted shooter, but developed a system that was necessarily quick to learn. Applegate wrote in Bullseyes Don't Shoot Back that top tier shooters may not be impressed with his system, but that the system was created for everyday people who didn't have extensive time and ammunition to practice. The fact that somebody worldclass like Ben is doing variations on Applegate's training might have actually pleasantly surprised Applegate. |

When people climb the same mountain it narrows at the top and they tend to get closer together. |
