I certainly still am - I shoot with Virginia City Marshals at the NRA range. There aren't as many convenient matches as I'd like but I've got other things in my life. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1955552141390281 - the group's FB page - very welcoming. |
| I am in NCOWS but I'm the last of my posse. Covid, inflation and age wiped us out. i am not in a position to drive 8 hours for a meet. So I occassionally go to a SASS meet. But their lack of historical accuracy turns me off. |

I am just starting, went to watch a match at the beginning of the month, really liked what I saw. The SASS approved Wild West Mercantile is pretty close, too. My wife is supportive, and I have two revolvers suitable already.
There were plenty of younger people there as well. 
Special dispensation was given for the heat, so some clothing wasn't EXACTLY period correct.  I met some very nice helpful people, and everyone looked like they were having a great time despite the AZ summer heat. I will likely fork over SASS fees next payday and go up for the new shooter orientation.

Yea, I know, blue jeans and leather footwear, any dress shirt like shirt and it suffices....and a hat. I do like my lever guns though. I just got the latest Ruger made Marlin 1894 in .357. It’s a great little gun! |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.
| Virginia City Marshals is doing their annual shoot on January 1st at high noon at the NRA range. There's only limited space to compete as the range isn't really all that big, but if there's any interest let me know. Even if you are just looking to drop by and say hello. You might find a posse in AL, TN, SC or FL. Check NCOWS National Congress of Old West Shootest And SASS Single Action Shooting Society. NCOWS is more historically oriented but gives new members a year to get period clothes. |
