This was a first for me. Need a hammer and a brass bar to beat the BCG out of the receiver after removing the buffer tube.

So... I find comfort in the fact that if Trump has to work so hard to go to Heaven, then there is a shit load of Democrats that have no f-cking chance to go anywhere but HELL. Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a sledge-hammer.

Believe it or not, that failure is not as rare as you’d think. In fact, it was discussed in every one of Pat Roger’s carbine classes that I attended and he had a drill to resolve it, which involved turning the rifle upside down. He stressed it would only work if you recognized the symptoms before you started beating on it. Once the primer is crushed it pretty much requires tools. | My mossberg mpv 5.56 didnt like the pressures of 5.56 ammo and my old gemtech halo. More than once primer was blown into the bolt itself rendering the rifle unusable. Not quite the same as happing on a semi-auto gun. |

Ive had nearly identical happen a couple times. First was taking a class st Front Sight. Rifle locked up hard on the line. Thankfully brought a spare rifle and was able to get back in class quickly. At lunch I had to pull the RE off and beat the BCG out of upper and found the primer wedged between gas key where it meets the bcg and upper. 1 in a million I figured. Put it back together and finished class with the rifle. Next time out with the rifle at hometown range it happened again. WTF. Exact same thing. It was then I realized the privi ammo with un crimped primers and my 11.5" sbr with old school swr specwar2 can (low back pressure wasnt a thing then) was just a bad combo. Stopped shooting the privi with the can and never happened to me again. |

Ouch. So the SECOND worst place for it is actually in the carrier key. It’s easy to assume that some of these places like the cam pin hole are 1 in a million odds, but I strongly suspect that the reciprocating carrier ever so briefly creates a vacuum that could suck any debris in. An analysis of air currents inside the action would be fascinating. (Not just the barrel—>gastube—->carrier—->gas rings on bolt) |
