It really is a game changer when the chassis systems available approach the cost of a complete rifle from Ruger. Listening to the Ruger CEO on Gun Talk radio and he said the accuracy requirement was 10 five shot groups under 1 MOA. That's why several of these rifles are already producing 0.5 MOA. So, Ruger is making a really nice barrel to begin with. Barrel makers would be stupid to not make barrels for this rifle. You can change the barrel with a regular AR15 barrel nut wrench. Ruger made the perfect rifle for 308 based cartridges. Now if only they'll make one for larger rounds. |

My only complaint against long actions is having to lift my face to clear the bolt, but the tube design fixes that. |

I was looking at my badger action with its flat bottom it would be real easy to make a magwell trigger combo that would accept an AR15 stock . The barrel is a #10MTU so it could be threaded to accept a barrel nut for any forearm. I believe with Rugers idea you will see much more of this type rifle soon. Forgot its a picture thread.....

Nice savages. Have to ask since I don't know, what does "trued" mean when you send them in to get this done? Does it help with precision shooting? I recently purchased a Savage 10T that shoots awesome and wondering if this process would help. Thanks

Mine already has low recoil. I"m not a gunsmith to tell you all the details of "truing" an action. But it does help with accuracy. The APA Fat Bastard is a pretty nice brake. I've had one on my 223 since it was built. The 300 WM I literally got in on Friday and will be doing load development on it next weekend. There are several YouTube videos on the APA Fat Bastard with a 338 LM so the 300 WM and certainly the 223 Wylde are nothing compared to that cartridge. It makes follow up shots really easy to accomplish. |

Thanks Basically the gunsmith goes back and re-cuts all of the critical parts of the reciever, to make everything perfectly square and perpendicular. Some recievers like Remington 700's are heat treated after they are machined, this can cause the reciever to slightly warp, throwing things out of alignment. Because of Savage's floating bolt head design, I do not believe it is generally considered to be a large benefit to them. |

223 AI built by LA Precision Stiller Action 22" threaded Krieger barrel Surgeon bottom metal Manners stock  I paid a lot more for this rifle than a Ruger Precision and of course it shoots better than the RP, with zero load development.  The Ruger Precision is going to be a fine rifle for someone who wants a solid rifle at a good price but there is a good reason why it costs hundreds of dollars less than a custom. If your primary goal is to bang steel at 1K yards then the Ruger will do a stellar job if you know how to read the wind and pull a trigger. |

And that much is true, but balance that against the what some consumers said in the 80s about cars. "No one that was really going to buy a Mercedes or BMW would change their mind and buy a Lexus, Infiniti, Acura" ... until they did, and did so in pretty eye opening numbers. Luxury and reliability became accessible to the masses. In my view what the RPR will do is begin to expand the market place to casual shooters who wanted to get into precision shooting, but were off put by the entry price of higher end platform brands or didn't want to spend on a lower end platform that essentially looked like their father's hunting rifle (because let's be honest, aesthetics play a factor in the consciousness of some consumer's purchasing decisions.). For $1000 what Ruger offers is compelling. |

My original "precision rifle," a 1903-A4 (optic since upgraded to the correct M73B1):
I was just about to start a precision build when the RPR hit the market. I appreciated the features for the price and decided on one in .308. I added a Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 (MOA) in a Spuhr mount along with an Atlas bipod. It will be wearing a SOCOM762RC once it's released from Form 4 purgatory. I have to say the RPR was the right choice for me at this time.

I took Annabelle out for a run on Saturday, at the Rifle Sportsmans Club Steel Challenge, in Rifle, CO. I took 1st Place with her, even though it was a day filled with changing winds, both cloudy and sunny conditions, as well as some rain. Shooting was 420 to 920 yards, from prone, kneeling, from sticks, and from a saddled tripod. Tough day, and the scores proved it. I was just "less bad" than the rest of the field!!

Straight up Fudden it to the max stock Remington 700 vls (replacement buttpad and refinished due to family/acetone issues) removed the pressure pad, interested in pillar bedding (any suggestions on a kit) Leopold 12x scope rings and bases......
