Ordered a rifle from them on the 9th. Heard on the interwebz a week later on the 16th that they were either closing or being sold, and had basically went radio silent. Rumors seem to suggest they are getting sold, but that could be a next week or next year sale. Who knows. Sucks because I was really looking forward to a Vudoo. I suppose I could go Rimx but I wanted the MDT chassis. MPA firearms, obviously, use the MPA chassis. So if I want a Rimx in an MDT chassis I get to head off into the wild yonder and peice it together, I dont know of any turn key solutions for a Rimx barreled action in a MDT chassis. |

| If it is true, and I have no reason to think it isnt based on my experience and what I've heard, I'd be pretty suspect of the quality. At least early on, as it sounds like they are essentially starting over. Fuckin hell. I'd really like a <90 bolt throw, and RimX for some fucking reason cant seem to figure out how to have a bolt throw that isnt 90 degrees. I guess I could go CZ and drop it in a MDT chassis or something but...Just....Fuck. |

I wish CZ sold a bare 457 action. Frankly most of their stock checkering patterns currently offered are hideous. The stock shapes are mostly goofy on their target versions too. Manners excepted but iirc they disco’s that option anyhow. I lean toward stocks versus the erector sets. I picked up a 452 varmint years ago with the idea I put it in a McM stock. It didn’t shoot well enough to continue on the project. It was just a fair shooter. My 452 Scout with the single action screw and un reworked trigger was as good if not a better shooter. My 452 fullstock is a shooter though. The price jump from the 452 and 455 to the 457 was a bit off putting. So I spent $2.5k on a Vudoo.

The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

You can get a barreled action from DP Gunworks but shes a pricey one and has a LONG lead time. My understanding is he just buys Scouts, pulls the action, rebarrels it and sells it. Current plan is a CZ Scout for the action. Then get a barrel from either Whidden or more likely L3i as its a bit heavier barrel so should help with balance. Then drop it in a MDT chassis, or maybe a Grey Birch if I want to save a couple bucks. That should give me a CZ action with a top tier barrel in a competition chassis and ring in at around 2-2.5k depending on options. The L3i and GB route would land around 1500 or so, whereas the Whidden/MDT option would top out around 2300 or so. Still over 1500 cheaper than the current Vudoo prices but man its a lot more work and tinkering than just clicking "Order"

If my choice was to buy a CZ to have to use that scope or get a rimX then I would sell that scope and buy something else. Just sounds like more trouble than it’s worth. Also 2” isn’t that bad. The Razor is 1.8 so an extra tenth of an inch on each side. |

Looks like they are back up and running in OK now. Going to order some mags and that action wrench tool. Did some shooting yesterday, hardest thing is going to be getting used to the short action/bolt travel. Attached File |
