Rifleman's Guide to Rimfire Ammunition By Steven Boelter Copyright 2005, 2006 I have a copy of this from its initial release and remember it was quite good, informative. This information is why and how I ended up with the ammo I still use today. Anyone read this or used the information recently? If you want to know how the various brands and grades of ammunition stack up relative to each other, this is the guide you want. |
I'll reply to my own post.  I've been re-reading and skimming through this again. It covers a tremendous range of material, not just ammo. It's got rifles, cleaning, barrels, chamber reamers, tuners, lot-to-lot variation, terminal performance, all sorts of stuff. Of course, it also has results of the weights and measures and shooting test (velocity and accuracy). All measurements include the range of variability observed. |

Seriously, though, it is good enough to stand the test of time. I was re-reading mine. I wonder if the author would allow us to post excerpts from the book. Really, the entire book should be available online. It's very worthy. P.S. - I am not schilling to sell books. The book addresses many questions often asked online here, and does so in an authoritative, quantitative way. |

A long time ago, I found and downloaded an article titled, "Rimfire Cleaning", also written by Steven Boelter. This got lost in my data storage "archive" for a very long time. I just recently re-discovered it. It was just today I noticed the author for both the book and article was the same - Steven Boelter. I don't do Drop Box and have no way to share either. If you're interested, you can do a web search for the cleaning article. The MS Word version is 8MB, likely due to the photos. A PDF version is still 2.5 MB. |
