| Been using RL-26 in my 7wsm for several years, great velocity not alot of pressure, rebarreled my rifle and started working up new loads today and while shooting at the range i was getting strange burnt sour smell while shooting, so much so a guy next to me came and inquired about what i was shooting, im. Assuming my powder is going bad? Should i get rid of it or has anyone experienced this? The loads were getting great performance and high velocities, im just concerned and dont want to have any safety issues, but at same time RL26 is impossible to find and it works so good inhate to change. Powder has been stored in reload room in shop which is temp controlled, appreciate any feedback |

How does the powder in the jug smell? How does it look? Powder that’s going bad will smell quite different from “good” powder…sometimes sour or otherwise weird. It might look “off” too, with color changes to the grains, and even stuff stuck on the container sides. |
