local shop had a used Barrett 82a1 with Leupold MK4 4.5-14 and 50 rounds for 6500. I Fo'd on it. Already have a good amount of trigger time on the 82a1 from a friend that owns one. He sold me my 1st single shot AR50 50bmg back around 04. Sold that and bought a percision 5 shot bolt gun in 2017. I reload for the 50 and also have a bunch of LC ammo in cans so ammo has always been coved no worries there. Now I've made it to the cool kids club all on my own. Look Ma I'm all grown up! Was thinking of selling the bolt gun after I picked up the 82a1. My friend that told me about the barret wants it but is short on cash. Same shop has a lettered Colt 5.5 inch single action 44 spl. I want for 2500 and I was going to use the money for that. After talking to my other friend I mentioned above with a number of 50s from McMillian to barret he said to keep if it's more accurate then the barret. I believe that since there are a number of shooters at the Williamsport 1000 yard matches using the same gun in compatition there. kinda torn now wait for my friend and get the lettered Colt. Or keep the bolt gun and wait until I have the disposable cash next month or Oct and hope it is still there. 1st world problems. I have it so hard!    Side note: Anyone looking for a cheap 50 there is a used Bushmaster at a local shop for 2100 I think. Well it was there last week I passed on. No affiliation with the gun or store just a customer there. |

Honestly when I saw that 5 inch single action 44 spl. Colt I almost said screw the Barret. I'm fortunate to have a place to shoot it on my property and a few other places . It helps having a friend with a few 50s to shoot with also. I learned a long time ago when I met him that nothing was cheap when it came to shooting the 50. Sadly it's only gotten more expensive over the years ( all shooting now ) Trying to decide if I should order one of the Fostech 20 rnd drums. They are a 8 week backorder ( no big deal ) or just order 4 or 5 more mags now. I see 82a1 mags at the Harrisburg show used between 100-135 almost every Dec. and that show is right around the corner. |
