Went to the range today with a new budget Chinese scope mounted on my Savage 93R17. It’s a Mueller APV 4.5-14X40 with adjustable parallax, I think I paid $125 for it. At 100 yards the target was blurry when set for that distance but would sharpen up when dialed to 200 yards. I have a Vortec PST with side focus that’s right on. I’ll set it up and check for parallax later on as I’m not sure if it’s parallax free at 100 or 200 yards. Any of you experienced this before? |

To the OP: On occasion even with quality scopes if the diopter (reticle focus) is not properly set first, there can be a slight mismatch of target focus and parallax correction. Not talking about the numbers on the knob, but what you are seeing inside the scope. |

I went to the range again today and paid special attention to adjusting the parallax perfectly. At 100 yards the target was blurry with the scope set at 100. I adjusted the scope to 200, that sharpened the target considerably but I still had a bit of parallax. I adjusted the scope to 300 yards and it was perfect, no parallax! This was my first budget scope purchase, I use the Vortex Viper PST scopes on my more serious rifles and never had an issue with parallax. |
