Harumph!

With the popularity of the cartridge,
it does make sense.

No worries, I have a working sarcasm meter.

I'll have some loads to publish tomorrow. Taking the new Grendel out.

My go to load lately has been:
123gr SMK
28gr of TAC
Seat at 2.25
Small rifle BR primers in Hornady brass.
I have slightly better accuracy with 27.5 grs and the slower velocity, but I I don't mind losing .2 MOA to gain the FPS for banging steel at 800y.

I'm also a fan of the 123 gr Scenar over 28gr of 8208 XBR, seated at 2.26". I sometimes have trouble finding the scenars in stock though.

I haven't seen a barrel yet that doesn't like 27.6gr of AR Comp under some flavor of 123gr bullet.

20" Proof Research carbon fiber barrel
Hornady once fired brass
CCI #41 primer
123gr Lapua Scenar loaded to 2.260 COAL (1.721 off Hornady ogive gauge)
27.6gr AR COMP
2485-fps ES:10 SD: 4.5 over 10 shots

10 shot groups are around .6 consistently for me at 100 yards

123 gr ELD
28.4 gr IMR 8208 XBR
C.O.L 2.28 barely fit in the mag
0.3 MOA (couple 3 shot one hole groups)
2485 fps
ES 8

AR 18" Ballistic Advantage barrel
Link Posted: 6/21/2020 8:14:54 PM EDT
[Last Edit: Hawkeye29] [#13]
95 gr. VMAX
30.1gr. Win 748
Hornady virgin brass
Rem 7.5 Small Rifle Bench Rest Primers
2524fps (seemed slow) 2.4 SD
18” Lilja Barrel

.5 min 3 shot group at 100yds.

From my 18" SS PSA Upper:

28 grains of 8208 XBR
123 ELD-M
2525 fps
0.6" repeatable

28 grain of 8208 XBR
123 Sierra Match King
2540 fps
0.55" repeatable

Place holder for CFE-223

Place Holder for AR_Comp

I stated repeatable since I choose not to cherry pick a single "best" group and declare my loads as half moa. I have repeated these groups in similar conditions more than 3 times. My velocities are a bit higher than most. Could be the barrel, could be that I live at 6,000 ASL and routinely shoot at 8-10k ASL.

Anyone have a good load for 129 gr. SST using AR comp, TAC or 8208xbr? Those are my main powders, I do have a few others available.
