I recently purchased a GPO 15-45x60 spotter which has pic rails on top and on each side. I also own a Vortex Razor 4000 LRF. I'd like to be able to mount the LRF to one of the side rails on the spotter and cowitness them repeatably. In an ideal world, I'd prefer to be able to remove the LRF and any bracketry from the spotter while maintaining alignment since this would help with storage. I'll probably mount a budget red dot to the top rail on the spotter to help locate things quickly, so I'd prefer to use the side rails to mount the LRF. I've been doing a bit of searching and haven't found any off the shelf products which would accomplish this. It seems fairly simple to buy a pic rail clamp to attach to the spotter, fabricate a right angle bracket, and get either a pic or arca clamp and rail for the LRF since it has a 1/4"-20 hole in the bottom. That said, it might be simpler to just buy something, if it's available. I know that I could mount both separately on an arca rail using an independent ball head for the LRF, but that would probably result in needing to realign every time I set up. Since the spotter has pic rails it seems more convenient and repeatable to just use them. Does anyone have experience with a similar setup? All tips are welcome. Thanks in advance. |

I have my Vortex mounted on a diving board, but you might try 419 and Kinetic Development. They make those kinds of things. |

I have my vortex razor 27-60-85 setup with my sig kilo 2400 when I want them together..Just a couple simple Swiss-arca pieces to do it..cost about 20 bucks or so on eBay for everything.. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Basically the 2 arca clamps bolt down to a 6" area rail, then I mount a clamp plate to the spotting scope like normal, and 1 to the LRF as normal.. I then clamp the rail on the tripod and aim the spotting scope at the furthest distance I will want to look at, lock the tripod down, then adjust the clamps until both the RF and the scope are aimed at the same point...once done anything closer is pretty much dead nuts even if you have to fine adjust the whole plat slightly to get the RF perfectly locked on target, the scope will still have the target perfectly viewable if not perfectly centered..Once figured out tighten the mounts tight and its good to go, easy to store and carry the bracket, the RF and the scope been very happy with it and its dirt cheap to make... |
| the best solution would be to use the one made for that, the vortex impact 4000 WMLRF. That way you won't have to move from one to the other to see ranges. it will be more compact, etc. I'd also pass on the red dot. pointing rifles and scopes before looking through the sights is a skill that just takes a bit of practice. |

Thanks for the advice everyone. It looks like there's not a ready-made solution here, so I'll try to fabricate something. I have a few arca and pic clamps on the way from Amazon and making a bracket will be fairly simple once i have the clamps in-hand. If I'm not happy with it I'll do the Arca rail setup that AKSnowRider showed since something similar was my backup plan. |
