The Mason Dixon Sniper Series is a 2-club, 5 match series held annually between New Holland Rifle and Pistol Club (Gap, PA) and the Mayberry Game Preservation Association (Westminster, MD). The matches consist mainly of Precision Rifle stages focused on long range, precision marksmanship skills. Competitors are expected to engage 1/2-3MOA targets at distances up to 700 yards. These targets may be paper, reactive steel, plastic, paint balls, etc.
Centerfire rifles capable of at least 1MOA are acceptable. Calibers from 223 Rem through 300 Win Mag are acceptable with the caveat that all bullets must weigh less than 220gr and muzzle velocities do not exceed 3150fps. There are 2 classes of competition. Scores are calculated by total accumulation per day, classes do not count for individual match win. "Designated Marksman Rifle" or "DMR" is any AR15 pattern rifle shooting 223 Remington or 5.56 NATO and optics are restricted to no more than 12x magnification. Other AR15 calibers are not considered "DMR". All other platforms fall into "Open" class. Shooters may be required to prove that their ammunition is not in excess of either rule at any point during an event. Failure of either test is grounds for immediate Match Disqualification. Shooters must compete in at least 1 event from each club. The top 3 match scores count towards the Series Championship. The top 20 shooters and 4 individual match winners are invited to attend the Series Finale at the end of the season. Standings are calculated by %-Par method where an individual match winner's score is considered par, each competitor receives a percentage of that par score. The match winner receives 100 points, or 100% of par. The 2015 Series Finale will be held at NHRPC. Mayberry's dates for the series are May 3 and August 2. New Holland's dates for the series are June 6 and July 25. The series finale at Mayberry is October 4. SH link |
