... or a bolt-action pistol that I can form 1. It needs to: 1) Have the capability to accept a folding stock: whether it has one from the factory, or whether there are aftermarket folding stock chassis available which it can fit in. 2) If it uses an AR-style buffer tube for the folder, then it's a no-go. I want something thinner. 3) 8-10" barrel. Q Mini Fix is a bit more than I want to spend. Savage 110 PCS looks OK, except I don't like the left-handed bolt. Aero Solus looks nice but Aero is out of business(?) now so I don't know if I'd want one even if I could find one for sale. Ruger American Ranch only has aftermarket chassis with AR-buffer tube folding stocks (at least that I could find). Any other suggestions? |

if you are right handed, lefty bolt is better setup JTAC Elf Owl ? or build it buy a virgin action of your chosing: rem700 style ARC CDG Stiller Zermatt Faxon ...etc get a chassis: MDT LSS GEN 2 MDT LSS-XL GEN 2 ..or whatever you like w/ Folding Stock Adapter & add a brace (or stock w/ paperwork) get barrel (prefit or savage style), trigger (triggertech, huber, etc), mags then red dot/scope & maybe a new can

My bolt-to-upper fit is so loose sometimes impossible to get the bolt to line up and release from the barrel extension. It does better when extracting a fired round, as the case seems to help align the bolt. But opening the bolt on an empty chamber is… frustrating. It’s a neat concept, but not ready for prime time. I’ll stick with my T/C Contender & SSK .300 Whisper barrel if I want to shoot 300BLK in a manual action. |

I rounded the corners of the cam pin head on a grinder after taking this picture to reduce this issue. After doing that, I also stopped having issues with the carrier occasionally catching when I tried to cycle the gun while upside down. I think this platform would benefit from cam pin with a rounded or heavily-radiused rectangular head. https://i.imgur.com/HQH2qwQ.jpeg The last modification I made was to the bottom of the front of the bolt carrier. As I tried more mags, I found a couple of my SOCOM mags seated the rounds a little high and the front of the carrier was catching on the top round. The front of the carrier was a little rough, and had a couple nicks. I rounded the edge and gave it a slight ramp, and now the carrier glides over rounds in that mag smoothly. | I went down this road a while back. Thought I could build a good manual action AR with a Honey Badger barrel (this was way before the BCA upper). It shot good, but it really wasn't what I was after. I ended up with the Fix. Is it overpriced? For sure. Is it great? Absolutely. I also built a 8.6blk initially on a 700 with a Remage barrel, it now has a standard shouldered barrel. Your typical bolt gun in a chassis thing is pretty good, I really like being able to use my usual Timney trigger and configure to my preferences. But, the form factor of the Fix is still better. If i was doing the 300blk thing again, and I couldn't swing a Mini Fix, I'd probably try a Howa Mini cut down in a chassis. I had a Howa chassis on a 6arc, and it was ok, but an aftermarket chassis would be better. At least the Howa Mini is actually sized to the cartridge unlike the Ruger. |

If it were me, this would be my work flow to determine parts. - Find a chassis that meets my requirements. - Look at what actions fit that chassis. - Of those actions, which ones can I get barrel nut style barrel for, I can install with go/no go gauges at home. - Find prefit barrel company that will make a short 300blk barrel for that action. - Find out its all going to cost a lot more than I thought. |

Yeah I went and calculated how much a Ruger American Ranch in an MDT chassis would be, along with a new SBR barrel with a proper 1/5 twist for subs and I think I may just bite the bullet and go with a Q Mini Fix. I still need to sell some other stuff first to help pay for it though. |

Origin action barrel/caliber of choice trigger of choice JTAC Industries Screech Owl chassis, choose handguard length and folding stock option. Don't like the JTAC folder?-simple choose another stock vender, it's a 1913 interface. The collapsing option isn't bad either.
